The Assignment
Pacific Northwest road trip.

The Execution
This image was a daytime long exposure. I used a Canon 5D MK III with the Canon 70-200 f/2.8L IS fitted with a circular polarizer and a Singh Ray 2-stop reverse ND filter to balance the exposure of the sunset. ďThe biggest problem to overcome was the wind, and sea spray. A lens cloth became my best friend on this trip. Iím used to photographing in the mountains, not the coasts, so learning to work in the sand, salt, and humidity was difficult. This exposure was only a second-and-a-half, but it was just enough to achieve milky seas without losing the waves.

Post Production
I donít rely a ton on post production and often simply need to bump the contrast and color a bit to achieve what I sawĖ which was the case with this image.

The Output
I absolutely love Red River matte papers for most of my projects, mostly the 88lb. Polar Matte Magna, but for this particular image, the color really pops and textures look silky smooth when printed on Red Riverís 75lb. Arctic Polar Luster.
