Renata Ratajczyk is a Toronto-based photographer who emigrated to Canada from Poland more than 20 years ago. She is a photographer and digital artist specializing in concept photo illustration, creative photography enhancement, retouching and fine art. Her award-winning work has been internationally published and exhibited.

The Assignment
Produce a series of fantasy fashion images suitable for books, calendars, cards, posters and for a variety of publications.
The Execution
“I was looking for a sexy, futuristic fashion look that would be similar in style to what one can see in some comic books. The model’s look and wardrobe were carefully pre-planned and I had both a make-up artist and a hair stylist present during the shoot. I used studio strobes to photograph the model, Eusebia, in several poses and this was one of the best of the take.
Post Production
“The image of the model was retouched and then masked in Photoshop. The background was created with Bryce, a 3D modeling program. The final retouching was done in Photoshop. This image, which I call ‘Dangerous Shooter,’ won first prize in the glamour photography category of Popular Photography Magazine’s annual photo contest.”
The Output
“I printed the image on a Canon IP 6700D printer using Red River Arctic Polar Gloss paper. The printer setting used for this paper was “Photo Paper Plus Glossy.” The picture printed perfectly the first time. The paper is very white and the colors look extremely vibrant. It almost adds an additional dimensional quality to the print.”
