Brief Overview

Epson's line of Claria "Hi-Definition" inkjet printers replaces a good, but aging line of dye ink printers such as the Epson 1280. Besides being fast photo quality machines, Epson touts the Claria system as a "long life" dye inkset similar to the Canon claims for their ChromaLife dye system.

What should you use these printers for?

Photographers, businesses, graphic designers, realtors, and many others will benefit from the quality, speed, and wide paper compatibility of these printers. They are indeal for everyday graphics and photo printing, and especially for custom greeting and note cards from Red River Paper.

Who should not use them?

If you insist on multi-decade fade resistance in differing display conditions, stick with the pigment ink system like Epson's UltraChrome. Despite long life claims, Red River Paper would be uncomfortable selling photography on any dye ink system.

R380, R260, RX580 Ink Tip

Epson makes a standard ink tank, and a "High Capacity" ink tank for these printers. The larger tanks are likely double the ink for about 40% more money - not a bad deal.

The catch....High Capacity tanks are only available through Epson.com at this time!

If you have one of these printers, you might consider making a purchase direct from Epson.
