Satin and Luster Inkjet Papers

The de facto standard for wedding and portrait prints over the past four decades has been luster paper. Photo labs refer to this lightly textured media as the "photo e-surface." The terms satin, luster, and sometimes pearl can be used interchangeably. It strikes a good balance between the glossy and matte surfaces, offering the benefits of excellent color reproduction, a non-distracting surface, and fingerprint protection.

An interview with famous 1960s rock photographer Baron Wolman appears in the October 2015 Shutterbug Magazine. Written by Blog Editor, Arthur H. Bleich, the piece took three years to make it into print.

“It seems,” recalls Bleich, “that everything was conspiring against it ever being published.” The article was assigned in 2012 by Shutterbug’s then-editor, George Schaub, right in the middle of a move that Bleich, his wife and six cats were making from Florida to New Hampshire. That delayed working on it for about six months.
