Welcome to The State Fair!

It is that time of year when State Fairs take place around the USA. Because the Texas State Fair is in our backyard, at least one RRP staff member attends to see the photography display and maybe eat a few of the fried food sensations. It's a tough job, but someone has to do it.

Hundreds of people enter the photography contest each year, and the large display gives you an idea of how many different perspectives there are in photographic art.

If you decide to enter your State or local fair's photo competition, here are a few papers to consider.

Why People Print
Why People Print - Part 3

"I like printing at home with high quality materials and having control over the whole process and I can afford to do so because I have a very small business."

"At the moment, I print proofs (@320 so far) for the new project I am working to complete - my photos combined with the sketches and paintings of Odilon Redon"

"To make beautiful prints. Gave up dark room but need my hand in making the print come to life."

"Family Photos, and family history photos mostly. I prefer matte surfaces, especially when printing a photo originally shot in the 1870s - a glossy surface just spoils the ambiance."

"Invitation business."

"I am a Visual Artist and print my own photos because I like to be able to control more accurately what the color and blacks and whites will look like in my prints."

"To me, a print gives new life to an image you have become used to seeing on your computer's display. You can pick it up and carry it away from your computer and show it in a variety of locations and new situations to people who may never get to see your work. A print is the final completion of an idea."
