Ask Tim Grey Feature
Question:
What happened to the Custom Photo Package feature in Photoshop CS5?
Tim's Answer:
I suppose you could say that two things happened to the Picture Package (Contact Sheet II) feature found in previous versions of Photoshop. For one thing, it has been removed as part of the installation package for Photoshop, so it has effectively disappeared. You can, however, restore the Picture Package feature by installing the Optional Plugins for Photoshop CS5. These are included in the Goodies folder on the installation DVD, but you can also download the Optional Plugins package from the Adobe website.
The address for Windows users is:

And for Macintosh users is:

The second change is a new feature of Adobe Bridge, which in many ways replaces the Picture Package feature, and in some ways enhances it. This feature is the Output panel, which can be accessed by clicking the Output button on the toolbar and choosing Output to Web or PDF from the popup menu. This will enable the Output panel, where you can choose to create a PDF contact sheet of the selected images (or a web gallery, if you prefer). Once you've saved the contact sheet with the desired settings as a PDF document, you could naturally print that document to any printer, or simply email it to a client.
For more details on putting this and many other features of Adobe Bridge to work, you might consider purchasing a copy of my "Bridge CS5 Deep Dive" DVD, which features almost two and a half hours of video training for only $25. This title is available through my online store here:
