The paper makes all the difference
My artist wife has been after me (tech support :/ ) for years to start making prints of her art in the form of both note cards and post cards since her former print maker gave up the business. You really can't make much of a profit in it. I tried to make them on an old canon ink jet printer with the avery card stock made for those sorts of formats. The results for poor to fair. That printer was starting to show signs of a slow death so I researched better printers and papers. The red river site was very useful in selecting a printer. Not willing to spend the extra money on a canon Pro 1, I found a deeply discounted Pro-100 with a big rebate included (I think at B&H) and took the dive. I suspect the 100 was being discontinued but no problem. We first bought a sampler pack and tried different papers and found the matte paper to be the best for her prints so we bought this paper for post cards and other RR paper for note cards and prints. Using the recommended RR settings for this printer and papers, the results have been astounding. I didn't realize the quality of the paper could make that much difference. The colors in the prints pop. And I did use "regular" printer paper for comparison. There is none. I suspect the multiple cartridges in the 100 help. Regardless she is now very happy with the results.\r\n\r\nAnd I am using wordperfect to make the prints since I am a 30+ year user of that once leading word processor and can more easily manipulate printing and formatting than word bloatware. I've tried Adobe elements and it sucks just as much as word.

Shipping and packaging

Theodore Sardena, Jun 16, 2026

I tried getting paper from other places. Even if you can get a refund from the other guys, it's not experience receiving damaged goods. I’ve been using Red River Paper for my professional photography prints, and I couldn't be happier. The quality of the paper is exceptional, and their customer service is top-notch—they truly care about their customers.
What really sets them apart, though, is their attention to shipping and packaging. It’s clear they understand how frustrating it is to receive paper with dinged corners or moisture damage. Thanks to their SAFETrip™ packaging, every order arrives in perfect, ready-to-use condition. It’s a relief to work with a company that understands that reliable, secure delivery is just as important as the print quality itself. Highly recommended for any photographer who takes their output seriously.

I love the Polar Matte 330 postcards!

Destiny Toro, Jun 01, 2026

These are a staple in my business for my fine art postcards and mini prints. I love the thickness and the gorgeous velvety texture of the print side. Every time I print my artwork on these to send out to my customers, I fall more in love with them. And my customers love the quality of them too. Highly recommend!

Great Paper

Dave Shafer, May 29, 2026

I originally bought this paper to make some posters for a grand opening of a building. It was the perfect size for my printer and project (13x19) and I was impressed with the deep blacks. I later printed a black and white landscape that I thought came out great. (There are few reflections on the photo just taken with my iphone).
