Big Bend Baryta's whiteness comes from a special barium sulfate variant called blanc-fixe, which means permanent white. This material is in the coating. It is inert and lends stability to the paper's whiteness over time. The coating and base materials are free of acid, lignin, and fluorescent brightening agents. Big Bend Baryta 310 gives you all you need for true exhibition quality photographic prints.

My papers of choice had been baryta varietiess from Hahnemuhle, Ilford Prestige, and Epson Legacy. A friend suggested I try Big Bend Baryta. Well. Although my standard papers are a bit thicker (roughly 314 mm vs 310), the color, contrast, and overall resonance of Big Bend's version is noticeably superior. My wife observed the difference as well, without prompting. At a cost significantly lower than the name brands, BBB is now my new standard. Congrats!

Not having a lot of experience with different papers, I’ve come to understand how diverse the feel and ambience of a photo can be depending on the paper you use. The Red River Big Bend 310 Baryta was terrific! I wouldn’t hesitate to use it when my current stock of Hahnemühle Rag runs out.

I have changed my approach for exhibiting photos. I've gone from 12 x 18 and 10 x 15 prints and nice wood frames with 6 ply mattes to 16 x 24 prints mounted on gator board. I could not be happier with the results. I needed the larger 17 x 25 paper and the 310 weight for mounting on the self-adhesive gator board. The Big Bend Baryta was easy to print on - using the RR ICC profile. What I saw on my screen is what I got on the printer with no adjustments. The colors are spectacular as is the very fine detail in the image. I am currently exhibiting photos from Cuba and I am receiving tremendous reviews on the quality of the prints. Archival Grade Paper
Papers with the Archival designtation can take many forms. They can be glossy, matte, canvas, or an artistic product. These papers are acid free, lignin free and can be made of virgin tree fiber (alpha cellulose) or 25-100% cotton rag. They are likely to have optical or fluorescent brightening agents (OBAs) - chemicals that make the paper appear brighter white. Presence of OBAs does not indicate your image will fade faster. It does predict a slow change in the white point of your paper, especially if it is displayed without UV filter glass or acrylic.

Photobase Coating Acidity
Photobase resin coated (RC) inkjet papers always have a slightly acidic coating. The acid content (pH 6.8) makes instant ink drying possible. The level of acid content is not high enough to affect print stability over time.
The base stock of all Red River inkjet papers are acid free.
