Premium Matte 230 Greeting Cards Details & Information
Premium Matte 230 is a professional-grade photo matte inkjet paper. At 11 mil thickness and 230 gsm, Premium Matte Plus is thicker and heavier than retail-brand premium matte papers. The extra weight and thickness convey superior quality and allow the paper to handle the heaviest ink coverage. Cut to size and pre-scored for easy, clean folding, these cards are built for premium projects that demand maximum impact and durability.
Matte papers are excellent when you need to focus on the details of an image without any reflective distractions. They also lend a subtle character to images that might not benefit from the punch of glossy or satin media. Graphic designers, illustrators, and artists often choose matte paper because it works so well at reproducing original artwork.

Heavier

I wanted a heavier paper than Polar Matte 230.This either is the case or it is sized differently. That said, opening a fresh box, I was struck by an odor like a basement. Leaving the box open a day or two, dissipates it. Also seems less a bright white than Polar Matt, too. I use it in an Epson Stylus Photo 2200, matt black pigment ink.
Great paper

As all of the papers I have used from Red River this one measures up.
Best Matte paper available
George Goben, Jul 14, 2026
I have have used many well known brands and types of matte papers. And I have settled on Red River Premium Matter 230 as my paper of choice. I have found it to be excellent for portraits, landscapes and everything in between. It has deep rich colors, presents excellent detail and sharpness, it is a very nice weight and it stays flat. It is my photo paper of choice for most of my photos. Excellent.
