Pablo Duro Etching 315 - best decision I’ve made

I’m a watercolor artist who wanted to sell prints of my paintings. I initially tried the ‘outsourcing’ approach, but it was way too expensive, with limited control over the process. So I bought a nice giclee printer for home and the supplies needed to stand up a DIY, print on demand approach. I bought all the supplies I needed in bulk: backboards, mats, cellophane sleeves, reinforced envelopes. When it came to paper, I wanted high end because I wanted to give buyers the next best thing to the original painting itself. I tried the giclee printer MFR’s paper. It was nice stuff but they were frequently “out of stock”, super slow to ship orders, and don’t offer sizes that match standard mats and frames…, so I had to trim every finished print with a paper cutter; such a waste of time and paper. I ran across a site that mentioned Red River paper, so I bought a box of Palo Duro Etching 315. Best decision I’ve made as far as paper goes. Just like the MFR’s recommended paper…, really nice paper! 100% cotton, 21 mil thick, natural white with a textured matte and slightly lower in price. But no “out of stock” issues and shipping times are reasonable and consistent. The biggest plus is Red River offers the exact sizes I need for standard off-the-shelf matting and framing (e.g., 5x7, 8x10, 11x14, 16x20). No more wasted time and paper trimming prints to size. Now I print, assemble and ship. Red River Palo Duro Etching 315 is now my primary source for paper.

Great for old photo restorations
Roy Dressel
I have a portrait and wedding studio that also does restorations and scans old photos. I just recently discovered Palo Duro Etching 315, and it's a beautiful paper for those warm colors and works great for sepia-toned photos. Its texture also gives the older photos an original look. While Polar Matte is my go-to for most old photos, Palo Duro Etching 315 is there for those that need a little different look.

Excellent for Portrait and Fine Art Photo
Craig Callan
The rough handmade look of this paper adds the necessary character for portraits. Looks great with sepia, and it holds a lovely deep black. I spray it with Premier Print Shield for extra depth and protection.

I absolutely LOVE how this paper works with my fine art prints of watercolor paintings. It's difficult to tell the difference between the print and the original!

Great for my watercolor prints
I'm a watercolor artist and these are the best paper/texture for recreating the original as prints to sell without losing any quality. Love them!

Did not disappoint.

I recently purchased a canon pro 300 printer to print giclee quality prints of my watercolor artwork rather than ordering them. After lots of research, Red River seemed the way to go for quality paper. Having a good printer is only part of getting great Fine Art Giclees. The Palo Duro Etching 315 paper replicated my watercolor illustrations and paintings perfectly. They look like the original artwork. My artwork is detailed and this paper shows the detail. Love it.

Perfect for my watercolor prints

I used to print on a standard textured card stock and switched to this paper a few months ago. The color accuracy and depth compared to my old paper are unreal! They make my watercolor prints look like originals.

My go-to paper for clothing tags
Verified Buyer
I've been using this paper for years and am always amazed at the quality of the printing. I use it not for art prints but for clothing hang tags that use my artwork and they never fail to impress my customers. The printing is crisp and the colors are rich and dense. Reviews from my customers frequently mention the quality of the paper and printing. I use an Epson XP 7100 (the sheets are a little heavy to go through my Epson XP 15000 without a bit of help from me, so unless the 7100 is out of commission, I'll avoid using it) and between their inks and this paper, the result is pretty close to traditional press printing (if not better, in some cases). My only wish is that a whiter version was also available for those projects that use brighter colors, like yellows and pinks.

Both Palo Duro Etching 315 & Palo Duro Soft Gloss Rag

I tried many diffferent papers for the different subjets and come to this conclusion: For colorful fine art images I like the Palo Duro Softgloss Rag. I love the unique finish and the way the colors and subject just pop. For my are images that have been edited with textures I love the Palo Duro Etching 315 It really puts my work on a different level of quality. Of course best part is the customer service I always receive from Red River paper, they are just the best!

"I like to print my squirrel note cards on Red River 60lb. Paper Canvas card stock. It's a great textured paper, and makes my squirrels really "pop" off the card."
