Why "Art" Paper for Photography?
For many years, cotton art papers were emulsion coated for darkroom printing. The result is sublime - an elegant surface texture and sophisticated hand-feel. With modern inkjet coating, your prints will have a powerful impact and are sure to please.
Warmer White Paper
Palo Duro Etching 315 is a natural white paper. This is because we do not add any chemicals that make paper look bright white. The whites of your image are going to take on an elegant, warmer look. This is a benefit for images of nature, skin tones, landscapes, rich black & whites and artwork reproductions.
Deep Blacks
You will be amazed that a matte paper can make luxurious deep blacks. The secret is a barrier coat between the paper and inkjet receiving layer. Ink stays locked into the inkjet coating and cannot sink into the paper base. The results are luxurious deep blacks.
Museum Grade
This means a museum curator would be comfortable putting this paper on display. The keys to museum quality are 100% cotton fiber, acid-free, lignin-free, and optical brightener (OBA) free. OBAs are chemicals used to make paper bright white.

I use Red River papers for printing photographs. I recently purchased RR Palo Duro Etching 315 because I sometimes want a paper with a bit of texture. I love this paper! I’ll be buying more in different sizes.

Pablo Duro Etching 315 - best decision I’ve made

I’m a watercolor artist who wanted to sell prints of my paintings. I initially tried the ‘outsourcing’ approach, but it was way too expensive, with limited control over the process. So I bought a nice giclee printer for home and the supplies needed to stand up a DIY, print on demand approach. I bought all the supplies I needed in bulk: backboards, mats, cellophane sleeves, reinforced envelopes. When it came to paper, I wanted high end because I wanted to give buyers the next best thing to the original painting itself.
I tried the giclee printer MFR’s paper. It was nice stuff but they were frequently “out of stock”, super slow to ship orders, and don’t offer sizes that match standard mats and frames…, so I had to trim every finished print with a paper cutter; such a waste of time and paper.
I ran across a site that mentioned Red River paper, so I bought a box of Palo Duro Etching 315. Best decision I’ve made as far as paper goes. Just like the MFR’s recommended paper…, really nice paper! 100% cotton, 21 mil thick, natural white with a textured matte and slightly lower in price. But no “out of stock” issues and shipping times are reasonable and consistent. The biggest plus is Red River offers the exact sizes I need for standard off-the-shelf matting and framing (e.g., 5x7, 8x10, 11x14, 16x20). No more wasted time and paper trimming prints to size. Now I print, assemble and ship. Red River Palo Duro Etching 315 is now my primary source for paper.

Great for old photo restorations

I have a portrait and wedding studio that also does restorations and scans old photos. I just recently discovered Palo Duro Etching 315, and it's a beautiful paper for those warm colors and works great for sepia-toned photos. Its texture also gives the older photos an original look. While Polar Matte is my go-to for most old photos, Palo Duro Etching 315 is there for those that need a little different look.

The rough handmade look of this paper adds the necessary character for portraits. Looks great with sepia, and it holds a lovely deep black. I spray it with Premier Print Shield for extra depth and protection.

I'm a watercolor artist and these are the best paper/texture for recreating the original as prints to sell without losing any quality. Love them!

I recently purchased a canon pro 300 printer to print giclee quality prints of my watercolor artwork rather than ordering them. After lots of research, Red River seemed the way to go for quality paper. Having a good printer is only part of getting great Fine Art Giclees. The Palo Duro Etching 315 paper replicated my watercolor illustrations and paintings perfectly. They look like the original artwork. My artwork is detailed and this paper shows the detail. Love it.
