Palo Duro Etching - a luscious paper

I discovered Palo Duro Etching paper in a Red River sample pack and immediately ordered more. My results with some recent black & white photos reminded of hand-coated platinum prints from my 8x10 view camera days. The blacks are deep, and, perhaps more importantly, the near-blacks retain a convincing richness. I have been doing quite a bit of night-time photography recently and the Palo Duro paper has provided me an ideal medium.

Very high quality textured paper

I now use this exclusively for printing high end product hang tags on my inkjet printer. My customers rave about the beautiful sharpness and rich color, and the weight is substantial for a small tag. If I had a wish, though, it would be for a brighter white version of tends to look a little dark when compared next to a very white sheet. May not be possible, but putting the wish out there just in case...

I have a demanding artist client who insists on a heavyweight textured paper for her annual 31 Days of Halloween prints and this paper is perfect for the 5x7 prints she sells daily during the month of October every year. She's please, I'm please, doesn't get much better, THANKS Red River!

Palo Duro Etching 315 - My Go To Paper

I create vector graphic paintings which requires a lot of detail and textures, along with sharp lines. My interest is not mass production, but creating the finest prints in quantities of one or two. Palo Duro Etching 315 does a wonderful job providing me a great foundation to develop my art. I have been purchasing Palo Duro Etching 315, probably since it first was released. Find it to be consistent and just perfect for my creations.

I was a little disappointed with this paper, my first print came out muddy and rather dark. I tried to lighten the image and made a very slight change in color and lighting. I have attempted to print 4 more prints and they were relatively the same outcome, dark and muddy looking. I am glad I only purchased the 25 pack. I checked with support to see about the ICC profiles, the lady told me they don't have any print profiles for this paper. I would like to see some profiles coming out for my printer type and try it again to see if it makes a difference. I am using an Epson XP630 printer for all of my prints I also purchased a sample pack and have used 2 different papers and the outcome was quite stunning.
Thank you for your review! I would suggest printing on the other side of the paper just in case you are printing on the back side (hard to tell which is which sometimes).

Great heavy weight matte textured paper....

If you are looking for a heavyweight matte paper with decent blacks and a nice texture, this is it. Colors are good, black decent and the paper is heavy enough to minimize wrinkles or sagging when framed. We find we don't have to press mount the prints when using this product in large formats. Which I wish we could say for some lighter weight papers.

Palo Duro Etching fits the bill

At first, I thought I might want a sheet with a little more tooth, but after printing with it on the Canon Program-1000, I was very pleased with the way it holds the ink, with seamless transitions and very solid blacks. Of course, as always, service with Red River has been exceptional.

Amazing Results!

I recently entered 10 photos into the local County Fair pro photo competition. All were printed on Red River fine art paper, an assortment of Palo Duro Etching, Palo Duro Smooth Rag, and Semi Gloss. All at sizes of 11 x 17 to 12 x 18 then mounted on foam core. Every single one of them one at least a top three in the category they were entered, and one was best in show. Many firsts and seconds. The difference in printing on this paper is amazing! I am a fan. In case you wonder, my "go to" roll stock is the 66lb Arctic Polar Satin.

Excellent fine art paper

This paper is simply outstanding for fine art black and white prints. The paper itself has a wonderful texture that sets it apart form the RC coated photo papers. The paper has a slight warm glow that looks perfect with a double matting. I'm using the RR ICC profile and media configuration file for the PRO 1000. The set up has been spot on perfect. Highly recommended.
