MAC USER NOTICE
Canon does not support the MAXIFY series printers with a driver on Mac OS. Instead, they fall back to Apple AirPrint, which is a generic printer driver that does not allow for correctly using ICC color profiles.
What does this mean?
It means you cannot use color profiles provided by Red River Paper or other paper brands on Mac OS when using this printer.
What can I do?
You can allow the printer to manage colors. Use the recommended media settings, outlined below. There are no workarounds (other than printing from Windows instead of Mac OS).
Compatible Media
This series of Canon printers works with our full line of photo and art papers, though we don't recommend our transparency sheets with this model of printer.
Additionally, this line of printer is not designed for doing a lot of matte cotton art papers in a row. If printing frequently onto cotton art papers, the printer will make you stop and perform roller cleanings every 20 sheets or so. This isn't an issue with other types of papers, but you may see this with our Aurora Art, Palo Duro Etching, and Trinity River Velvet papers.
We recommend using the top-rear paper feed for all Red River media on this line of printers.
Some papers require special settings or special handling, as noted in the chart below.
We recommend ordering samples of any paper you intend to use with this printer so that you can test out the paper with your specific printer before ordering a whole box of anything.
The information below are guidelines based on our testing of this printer to help you get started quickly. Absolutely do experiment on your own. Read the manual for your printer. Play with different settings and try different feed paths, have fun learning your printer and see what works best for you.

Troubleshooting
We know all too well how frustrating printers can be sometimes! Here are some steps to take if you find yourself running into issues printing on your Canon printer using our media.
With any printer, the Canon MAXIFY series included, the first troubleshooting step if you are running into issues with color, centering/margins, paper jamming, missing media types, or other technical problems, is to ensure you have the latest official Canon printer driver installed.
You can download the official Canon driver for Windows from the Canon support website.
On Mac OS, there is no official Canon driver for this series of printer, so it will fall back to Apple's generic print driver which they call "AirPrint".
Most common issues are addressed in our Infocenter and our Frequently Asked Questions page.
