Compatible Media
The Canon Pro-310 works with our full line of photo and art papers, except our glossy sticker paper.
Some papers require special settings or special handling, as noted in the chart below.
When using the rear feed (aka the manual feed): this feed path imposes limitations on minimum paper size of 8" x 10"
We recommend ordering samples of any paper you intend to use with this printer so that you can test out the paper with your specific printer before ordering a whole box of anything.
The Media Type Setting below is what you should choose as the media type if you are not using our custom media types (AM1X files).
Using our AM1X files to install the custom media types to your printer will give better results, but is not required.
The information below are guidelines based on our testing of this printer to help you get started quickly. Absolutely do experiment on your own. Read the manual for your printer. Play with different settings and try different feed paths, have fun learning your printer and see what works best for you.

Troubleshooting
We know all too well how frustrating printers can be sometimes! Here are some steps to take if you find yourself running into issues printing on your Canon printer using our media.
With any printer, the Canon imagePROGRAF series included, the first troubleshooting step if you are running into issues with color, centering/margins, paper jamming, missing media types, or other technical problems, is to ensure you have the latest official Canon printer driver installed.
You can download the official Canon driver here: Canon Pro-310 Driver
On Mac OS, doing a system update can cause the official Canon driver to be silently replaced by Apple's generic printer driver that they call "AirPrint". You can find instructions on how to find your driver version and install the correct one here: https://www.redrivercatalog.com/infocenter/how-to-fix-missin...
Often on Mac OS, even if you have the correct driver installed, removing the printer, updating the driver, and re-adding the printer and then rebooting the computer will fix the issue.
On Windows, if you connect the printer to the computer without having installed the Canon driver, it will use Microsoft's generic printer driver that they call "IPP". To correct the issue, simply download and install the latest driver from the link above and it will replace the generic printer driver with the correct one.
Many issues printing with the Canon imagePROGRAF Pro series are also solved by printing using the free Canon Professional Print and Layout software (rather than printing through Photoshop, Lightroom or other editing programs). See the section on this below.
Most common issues are addressed in our Infocenter and our Frequently Asked Questions page.

Canon Professional Print and Layout
This model works with the excellent, free Canon Professional Print and Layout software, you can download it from the Canon Pro-310 driver page.
We recommend giving it a try, as it makes it easier to select the correct settings when printing and solves a wide range of issues that people run into.
You can find instructions for using ICC profiles with Canon Professional Print and Layout here: https://www.redrivercatalog.com/profiles/how-to-use-inkjet-p...
Note that if you install custom media types (am1x files) into your printer, you will need to go to File -> Other Settings... -> [Add/Update Media Information] in order to have the media types show up in Canon Professional Print and Layout.
About Red River Color Profiles
All ICC profiles and AM1X media type files for the Canon Pro-310 have been carefully crafted in-house to ensure the best possible prints on our media.
ICC color printer profiles are useful for getting consistent and accurate inkjet prints. While using a profile adds steps to your printing workflow, the end result will be less wasted ink and paper and less stress on your part.
AM1X media type files help ensure your printer is handling the paper correctly from a mechanical perspective, such as ensuring the print head is the right height and controlling drying time between print passes, how much force it should use when feeding the media, etc.
