Warmer Tone Inkjet Papers / Low & No OBA Inkjet Papers
When your image calls for a warmer tonality, look to Red River Paper's line of warmer tone inkjet papers. Warm tone means that the base paper stock has a slightly warmer look. This is usually because the paper has fewer optical brightening agents in the formula. Some papers have no OBAs while others are low in OBA content.
What are OBAs?
To make paper appear brighter white, manufacturer's add chemicals to the base stock or coating. The chemicals, called Optical Brightening Agents (OBAs), convert ultraviolet light and re-emit it in the visible blue spectrum. They "fluoresce" at a point that is just barely within our ability to see. This additional light causes paper to appear brighter white. Without OBAs, most paper would have a warm, almost creme color. Learn More About OBAs.
When would you use warmer tone inkjet media?
Images types such as landscapes and portraits lend themselves to warm tone inkjet paper. The warmth brings your white point up which lowers overall contrast. Leave your Feedback on why you use warm tone inkjet paper and we'll post it for others benefit.
